ZOOMARINE OF TORVAIANICA
The ZooMarine amusement park is a 40,000 square meter complex located in the seaside resort of Torvaianica, in the province of Rome. Inaugurated in September 2005, this structure takes on the same characteristics of the park of the same name located in the city of Algarve, in Portugal. It was the same company at the time that owned the Portuguese park, Mundo Aquático - Parques Oceanográficos de Entretegni Educativo SA, that decided to build a second park of the chain in Italy.
On August 1st 2015, the management of the Mexican multinational Dolphin Discovery, which owns almost thirty marine facilities between the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and Jamaica, takes over the place
The Island of the Dolphins
The Island of the Dolphins is a large complex of four tanks which, since 2005, began to host some dolphins from the ZooMarine of Algarve (Portugal) and from Mundomar Benidorm (Spain).
The main tank is used for public representations of dolphins and their daily life, articulated many times in the holding of the rear tanks.
From August 2015, it took the name Dolphin Discovery Stadium .
At the beginning, the ZooMarine was considered the park of excellence in Italy as it proposed close-up swimming with dolphins, which took place daily in the two side pools. With the introduction of new Italian regulations and the prohibition of entering into direct contact with dolphins, the interactive programs of the Roman park have been reduced to "distant" meetings in the company of trainers.
The holding tanks are separated from the one used for reproduction and medical treatment, marked by a large white awning.
