LAPO
Lapo is a bottlenose dolphin born on July 28, 2007 at the Rimini Dolphinarium. His parents are Alfa and Speedy. He has long been hailed as "the dolphinarium mascot", as he was the youngest and the "favorite one" of his mother Alpha. For a long time, in fact, Lapo continued to take milk from his mother, even after weaning.
In the days before August 2013, the same dolphinarium made it known to the national press that the little Lapo had fallen into depression and was on antibiotics to fight a gastrointestinal problem. A month later, Lapo was forcibly transferred together with his mother Alfa, his brother Sole and his sister Luna to the Aquarium of Genoa. The Rimini Dolphinarium, in fact, had been denounced and forced to close following serious complaints for the crime of animal mistreatment and lack of quality standards required by European and national zoological regulations.
Lapo lived separated from his mother and sister for more than two years, due to the immodepression he had begun to develop at the Rimini Dolphinarium, which unfortunately worsened with the transfer and forced moving.
At the beginning of 2016, Lapo was definitively transferred to the Cetaceans Pavilion, where the integration and training process began.
How to recognize Lapo
Aesthetically, Lapo closely resembles his older sister Luna, with the only difference being the presence of multiple scars on the part of the head and a shorter rostrum.
Lapo has a lively, curious and playful character and has always had a very close relationship, as well as with his mother, also with his brother Sole.
