CLEO

Cleo (originally known as Cleo Fiore ) is a female bottlenose dolphin born on 5 September 1994 at the Aquarium of Genoa. Her parents are Bonnie and Clyde. Cleo's childhood focused on the aquarium with her mother, until 2004 when her definitive transfer to the Oltremare Park in Riccione took place. In addition to her mother and younger brother, Achille, two other dolphins such as Golia and Silver followed. Two years later, in 2006, Cleo became pregnant for the first time and on August 23, 2007 she gave birth to her first calf, which unfortunately only survived for a few days. A year later, on October 9, 2008, Cleo gave birth again but the survival of the baby, unfortunately, was not successful. On May 31, 2010, the Oltremare Park in Riccione published the happy news that Cleo had given birth to a female in perfect health. A cerebral hemorrhage cut short the life of the little calf at less than a month of age, on June 19, 2010. The fourth, and last, Cleo's calf was born on June 25, 2012, a boy, who unfortunately died a few days later, on the 3rd. July 2012, due to cerebral edema and blood in the skull.

How to recognize Cleo

- Its dorsal fin is squat and square.

- Its rostrum is short and graceful, with a small graze on the tip.

- His build is short and stocky.

Cleo looks like a dolphin with a very curious character towards people. At the glass, she doesn't mind a few more minutes in the company of visitors. With the group of bottlenose dolphins, on the other hand, Cleo is a dolphin with a very dominant and determined personality and there are not few times she goes to annoy other females or young males. The trainers, for its part, define it as a shy dolphin. In fact, Cleo is much more reluctant to work with male trainers than with women.
